Artists of The Royal Conservatory

Saturday, March 29, 2014
Matsqui Centennial Auditorium

Starting at 7:30pm
Pre-concert talk at 6:50pm in foyer

Over the last ten years the ARC Ensemble (Artists of The Royal Conservatory) has become one of Canada's pre-eminent cultural ambassadors, raising international appreciation of the Royal Conservatory and Canada's rich musical life.
Representing the organization which teaches and examines countless music students around the country, the ARC Ensemble has made a name for itself in musical performance and recording. Members of the ensemble are all senior faculty at the Conservatory.
Besides its reputation as one of Canada's pre-eminent cultural ambassadors, the group has developed a reputation for unearthing and meticulously researching music that has been long forgotten due to political change or shifts in musical fashion. Its concerts and recordings are meticulously researched and assembled with rich supporting materials and are often augmented by lectures on their musical, political and social context, or included as part of larger-themed festivals.

    DESCRIPTION
International Women's Day and Women of Aviation Worldwide Week are recognized globally as celebrations of the advancement of women, and it is our intent to showcase Canada as a world leader in promoting outstanding Women of Aviation.
Our March 8-9 outreach event at the Langley Regional Airport in BC will be the largest of its kind in Canadian history. Over this very special weekend we are expecting well over 5,000 girls and women from communities around the Lower Mainland to discover aviation, meet outstanding women of aviation and see first hand the types of aircraft they fly and maintain. Over 1500 girls and women of all ages will receive the gift of first flight, courtesy of community businesses.
To be eligible for the free flight girls and women cannot have flown in a small aircraft before (previous airline flights are ok)
Our entire event is completely free, to ensure no barriers to participation.
The Sky's No Limit - Girls Fly Too! community outreach events, held in honor of Women of Aviation Worldwide Week (WOAW) and International Women's Day change lives and perceptions. We do this by first capturing the girls interest and attention with the magical first flight experience and then once we have this attention, by providing them the opportunity to discover hands-on, the endless opportunities available to them in aviation vocations. Basically we provide girls and women an in-depth, inside look at what's behind the fence and under the hood at the airport in a fun and participatory way.
Guys welcome too - fun for the whole family! We encourage everyone to celebrate with us and show your support for the ladies.
