April 12, 2014 - Hedley in #Abbotsford
Hedley
$34.50, $49.50, $64.50 (Plus FMF & Service charges)
Multiplatinum Canadian pop stars and Juno Award winners, Hedley have announced additional dates on their coast-to-coast Wild Live Tour, including a stop at the Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Centre on April 12.
The Wild Live tour supports the band’s fifth studio album, Wild Life and kicks off in Prince George, BC on February 14. The tour will be the band’s most extensive Canadian tour to date with more than 30 shows across the country. Joining Hedley on the first half of the tour until March 25 will be Danny Fernandes, JRDN and Alyssa Reid. Classified and USS will be special guests for the second leg of the tour starting in Toronto on March 27.
Tickets for the Abbotsford show are on-sale now. Hedley will also be offering several VIP packages including a meet and greet, exclusive merchandise items, and an exciting “Golden Ticket” opportunity. Check www.hedleyvip.com for details.
Hedley frontman, Jacob Hoggard invites all fans to join the excitement, “We are going to a record-breaking amount of cities this year and we want to see all of your beautiful, shining faces there!”
With four consecutive multiplatinum albums behind them – Hedley (2005), Famous Last Words (2007), The Show Must Go (2009), Storms (2011) – and almost a million albums sold, Hedley continue along their path to pop music supremacy with the release of Wild Life, scheduled for release on November 11. The new album bridges classic Hedley pop anthems and ballads along with R&B infused tracks and electro-pop tunes, proving that Hedley are back and ready to once again conquer radio airwaves & arenas coast to coast. Wild Life’s first single, “Anything” is Hedley’s fastest selling single to date, already reaching platinum-selling status and currently Top 10 at Pop & Hot AC radio.

Rodgers & Hammerstein’s first collaboration remains, in many ways, their most innovative, having set the standards and established the rules of musical theatre still being followed today.
Set in a Western Indian territory just after the turn of the century, the high-spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the colorful background against which Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl, play out their love story. Although the road to true love never runs smooth, with these two headstrong romantics holding the reins, love’s journey is as bumpy as a surrey ride down a country road. That they will succeed in making a new life together we have no doubt, and that this new life will begin in a brand-new state provides the ultimate climax to the triumphant OKLAHOMA!
OKLAHOMA! is presented through special arrangement with R & H THEATRICALS.

From Evaluation to Inspiration
FVRL is proud to host a special event that will change the way you think about intelligence, creativity, and human potential. Join us for an evening with Scott Barry Kaufman, author of Ungifted: Intelligence Redefined.
Severe ear infections rendered three-year-old Scott Barry Kaufman nearly deaf. As a result, he needed a few extra seconds to process things in real time—which landed him in a special education classroom. Inspired by his personal experience, Kaufman, now a cognitive psychologist, has made it his mission to debunk traditional methods of measuring intelligence. Why do we have such an obsessive need to compare students? Why do we insist on labeling and categorizing everyone? In his talks, Kaufman encourages us—and specifically educators, school psychologists, parents, and caregivers—to move towards a culture of inspiration, where we only compare people to their past and future selves. He argues for intelligent testing as opposed to intelligence testing: deep evaluation that focuses on finding out a person's strengths and weaknesses, and the characteristics that make them unique. And, he advocates for thinking about talent and potential as moving targets—they're not inherent qualities we're born with, they're based on our engagement with something that is meaningful to us. When students are inspired or activated, they come alive.
Instead of using testing to sort gifted from ungifted students, Kaufman encourages audiences to take a holistic approach to evaluation that benefits all students. It's time to focus on a practical approach to individual needs that enables students to unlock their potential and reach their goals, at school and beyond.

The world famous Harlem Globetrotters
The world famous Harlem Globetrotters have been thrilling families and millions of fans for 88 years, all the while innovating the game in exciting new ways. Last year, the Globetrotters did something unparalleled in the history of sports and entertainment, letting fans vote on new rules to be used in actual games. It was so much fun, we are doing it again, and there are cool new rules to choose from on our 2014 “Fans Rule” World Tour:
Hot Hand Jersey – A player wearing this jersey gets double the points when scoring.
Make or Miss – The quarter starts with 2 players on each team. When a team scores, a teammate may enter the court. When they miss, a teammate must leave the court.
Trick Shot Challenge – The team’s challenge each other to make trick shots, with 5 points awarded to a team the makes a trick shot, and 5 points given to the opposition if the shot is missed.
Take your kids to www.harlemglobetrotters.com/rule to vote for their favorite, craziest rule. Then, get your tickets to the game, where you will see the winning rules put into live action
